St John’s Parish Church

Fiona regularly attended Sunday Mass with Joseph and Patrick and both boys benefitted enormously from the close links between their school and the Church.

Fiona had a great love of flowers and the colour and freshness they bring. One of her wishes for the Fiona Foundation was that monies raised would be used to bring flowers and colour to certain parts of Church life and particularly its link with the school.

One of the first objectives of the Fiona Foundation has also been to plant a tree or small garden locally as a focus for the boys’ and other memebers of Fiona’s family and friends as they remember her. We have been able to combine this ambition with Fiona’s wish to help strenghten the link between the School and the Church and a number of projects have been started.

The Garden

Sheltered near the entrance to the Church car park stands the Celtic Cross. A new garden will be built betwen the Cross and the car park entrance as a fitting place for people to remember Fiona and also their own family members. The garden will have an area for contemplation and will be filled with the flora that Fiona so enjoyed. The garden will offer shelter, colour and tranquility.

The Flower Beds

The two flower beds oustide the main door of the Church are being funded by the Fiona Foundation.

The Leavers’ Mass.

This takes place for year 6 students shortly before they graduate from the school. It is an exciting and emotional time for them and their families. The Fiona Foundation will fill the Church with flowers for the Mass and ensure that every Leaver’s family will have a seasonal momento of their time at the school.
