The Fiona Karran prize winner at Trinity Hall announced for 2024.

The winner of the Fiona Karran prize for women in STEM subjects at Trinity Hall, Cambridge was this year awarded to Priscilla Tang studying natural sciences.  

St Johns Primary School exchange continues

Once again the school has enjoyed a very successful exchange programme with year 5 and 6 children in Nigran, Galicia.

Supporting Kids Action Through Science.

For the second year we have supported the Kids Action Through Science programme coordinated by Newcastle University.

Annual golf day raises over £2000.

We have had another busy year supporting our chosen projects.

April get together – we are having an informal evening in the Bowling  Green on 14 April to update our long term friends and supporters about the ongoing work of the Foundation.

Special Virtuosi

We have completed our first year sponsoring the Special Virtuosi orchestra’s three annual concerts at the RNCM. It has been a hugely successful partnership and it has been wonderful to see the Special Virtuosi performances.

Newcastle Scholarships

This academic year 2014-5 has seen the Foundation provide two more scholarships to female students at the Chemical Engineering faculty of Newcastle University. This project is going from strength to strength and we now have awarded 5 scholarships over the first three years of the Foundation’s involvement. Our first scholars have now graduated and it Newcastle Scholarships

El Camino de Santiago May 2015

Several of the friends of Fiona have talked for some time of a wish to walk at least part of El Camino across Northern Spain. The last 125 kms through Galicia have particular resonance because of the Foundation’s links with the school exchange to Nigran. The first week of May will see a group of El Camino de Santiago May 2015

More Fundraising in 2014

After a successful summer party at Manley Mere the second half of 2014 saw further fund raising notably for Kevin Savage’s 50th birthday. The year was rounded off with the Christmas party and again all donations were well received. The trustees are so grateful for everyone’s support and we ended the year by meeting our More Fundraising in 2014
